The First 'INDIAN NATIONAL DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP'




Hindu College Delhi University beat NLU Delhi in the Grand Finals to become the first Indian National Debate Champions. Shri Yashwant Sinha handed them the trophy after addressing the debater fraternity.



INDC is India's first pan-national, institution independent parliamentary debate championship, hosted for the purpose of promoting debating excellence in the Indian Debating Circuit and to provide a unified platform to debaters from all circuits within India.



Dates: 1st and 2nd May 2013.

The Format:

INDC followed an Asian PD (3 on 3) format. It will also be strictly Inter-Varsity.

The tournament comprised of 8 teams, each team nominated by a seeded institution. India's 8 top debating institutions were seeded after inviting and evaluating the institutional debate CVs of debating institutions from across the nation. The debating achievements under consideration spanned from January 2012 till 28th March 2013.

The 8 teams went against each other in 7 league rounds wherein each team faced every other team in the league sequentially. This was followed by a break to Finals.
